We launched our Vistula in Sandomierz on the Vistula and began an extraordinary cruise, the goal of which was to reach as far up the Wieprz as possible from its beginning, i.e. the mouth of the Vistula in Dęblin. It is a very picturesque, strongly meandering river, often visited by kayakers. It does not have the status of a navigable river, so larger vessels do not venture there. Our Vistula was probably the first large motor yacht to explore the Wieprz. We did not know how far we would sail... To Kock, Lubartów, Łęczna, and perhaps Krasnystaw... Everything was to depend on the conditions and the determination of the Vistula Shipping Crew. But as you already know, we have plenty of that, and the Vistula copes perfectly in all conditions, even the most extreme ones.
The assumed minimum goal was to reach the vicinity of Lubartów, i.e. about 120 km of the river. The maximum realistic goal seemed to be to reach a dozen or so km before Krasnystaw, i.e. at 224 km, where the Wieprz-Krzna Canal begins and the river is blocked by a weir. Struggling with adversities, including low bridges, fallen trees and a failure of the steering system (the photo shows a makeshift tiller, which worked great) - we managed to reach 167 km, i.e. a few km after Łęczna and at the same time enter Tyśmienica, Świnka (a river 4.5 m wide!) and Bystrzyca. I consider it a success, because as the people we met along the way said - they had never seen such a large vessel on the Wieprz before. I would like to thank the participants of the expedition for their determination and commitment, everyone who supported us and cheered us on, also on FB. Vistula has once again proven its class and reliability in difficult expedition conditions, and the Yamaha drive has proven itself perfectly, also against the strong current of the river. Pay attention to the numerous twists and turns of the Wieprz in the attached photos. That's the charm of this river!
